Five Shark swimmers lived their dream as they traveled to Omaha to participate in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials held June 29th thru July 6th. Ashley Largo, Corinne Showalter, Ashlee Linn, Ryan Crete, and Austin Detra represented the Sarasota Sharks at the meet; McKayla Lightbourn also qualified for the meet but passed it up in order to try to qualify for the Bahamian Olympic team.
All five of the Shark Trial swimmers matched or improved on their seed positions. Ashlee and Ryan not only had personal best times, but set four new Shark records in the process. Ashlee set the new Shark record in the 15-16 age group and Open group for the girls 100 back with a 1:03.45 (this is also a new Florida Swimming LSC record), and Ryan set new Open boys group Shark records in the 400 free and 1500 free.
